Pity the contractor

Sometimes I do feel sorry for the builder in my project. He’s really stuck in the middle of everything. His boss won’t release the money and we the consultants want to see results. He’s pressed by unrealistic deadlines and the quality demands that we place on him. Some days he looks like he hasn’t slept in days.

At the other end (of this elaborate triangle) we have the suppliers and sub contractors who are all demanding payment and withhold works if they haven’t received anything. This causes massive delays to the works on site and it becomes so messy that sometimes we don’t know who’s fault it is anymore.

My job seems stressful to me. But it’s really nothing compared to what builders in the construction industry face daily.
