There is nothing worse than working in an organization that has a bad culture. It doesn’t matter how much money you make or how many weeks of vacation you are given; when you work in a toxic environment, you still come home tense and stressed at the end of each day. And that isn’t worth it.
I think it says a lot about the modern working world that we are so oversupplied with qualified persons that companies have to compete on this level to attract and retain talent. Gone are the days when people were happy just to have a job.
Seriously though, after years of working I can attest to the 3 most important factors that make a pleasant work place:
- Job Satisfaction
- Boss(es) who care about you and your development
- Colleagues who are fun and passionate about the work
In all honesty having a great office environment is secondary. It could be a table in a shed and I’d be happy if the people I was working with made it a ball and I loved every moment of it.
