Why are some people left-handed? – Daniel M. Abrams | TED-Ed:

Kudos to my cousin for sharing this video with me that attempts a scientific explanation for ‘handed-ness’; in particular the left kind.

I am a proud left-handed though sometimes I can’t believe the fuss that people make over how special left-handers are. They seem to think that we are naturally gifted or something.

The only real gift I think left-handers truly have is that by virtue of their primary hand orientation which goes against how almost all of society (a whopping 90% of the population!) is galvanized, they have to be ready to adapt and to think of creative solutions on the spot.

This also makes it easier to appreciate ideas that challenge social norms. Because which Chinese left hander has not endured the social awkwardness of eating with chop sticks whilst seated on the right hand side of a right-hander. That’s one tense situation right there that flies in the face of accepted norms.
