How the Red Cross Raised Half a Billion Dollars for Haiti and Built Six Homes – ProPublica:

Articles like this are damning in that they have the potential to erode public confidence in charitable organisations.

If true though the things that the Red Cross has done are pretty shameless and they should just come out and apologize. All charitable organizations should be able to account for where the money donated goes and to be held responsible for any mismanagement of funds.

Donors have a right to know without a doubt where their money goes since they essentially are like ‘investors’ to the charity. I can’t help but smell a potential lawsuit.

I mean, come on! If the Red Cross is discovered to have actually mismanaged the half a billion dollars of donation money shouldn’t they be prosecuted for what they’ve done? Think about the people in Haiti who were promised homes that they never got? That’s just disgusting!

Giving to a bad charity is worse than not having given at all.
